Creating this collection is the most excited I have been to create a collection since I first launched Wootz. Creating art no matter the field, be it fashion, books, music, painted/digital art is a process of trusting your gut and being able to make the non-tangible, tangible. Being able to take in the world around us and create something out of how we feel. This collection is a result of the emotional bond I formed with Punjab on my last trip out there.
This collection is inspired by the bright and colourful art and fonts found on trucks throughout ਪੰਜਾਬ (Punjab). For the truck driver who often spends the bulk of their life on the road, their truck is a part of who they are. It is an opportunity for them to share their beliefs or to tell their stories through their trucks.
I was drawn to the bold and stylistic Punjabi fonts that are often found on the trucks and on signs throughout Punjab. This inspired the ਪੰਜਾਬ (Punjab) text in Punjabi as the base of designs for the new collection playing on the bright colour combinations and bold text.
